Collection: $5 Liberty (1839-1908)

Experience the Timeless Beauty of Coronet Half Eagles (1839-1908)

Introduced in 1839, the Coronet design, or Liberty Head type, showcases Christian Gobrecht's artistry with a left-facing female portrait crowned with "LIBERTY" and a majestic eagle on the reverse. Early pieces, measuring 22.5 mm, are known as "broad mill" coins, while later issues are 21.6 mm. This series produced remarkable rarities, including the 1854-S, with only three known survivors out of 268 minted.

In 1866, the addition of "IN GOD WE TRUST" modernized the design, and this series uniquely includes coins struck at all seven traditional U.S. mints. With abundant options in grades up to MS-65, true rarities emerge above MS-64, particularly the 1875 Philadelphia issue, with fewer than five known to exist. Owning a Coronet half eagle is not just an investment but a chance to connect with a rich tapestry of American history.
